Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our fly traps are designed for outdoor use. In enclosed spaces, the most effective solution is using sticky catchers. We can confirm that some users have successfully used our outdoor fly traps on open balconies. Since our traps work with an attractant bait, they will temporarily increase fly density in the area by drawing in flies. Therefore, they should be positioned at least 10-15 meters away from problem areas to effectively reduce the fly population.
  • We offer both disposable and reusable traps.
    • Disposable traps should be used until they are full, then replaced with a new one.
    • Reusable traps can be emptied, cleaned, and reused. To ensure the effectiveness of reusable net and bucket-type traps, you must:
      • Refill the bait with water to prevent drying out.
      • Replace the attractant bait every 3-4 weeks.
      • Empty and clean the trap when full.
You can purchase Flies Inn Fly Attractant Bait as a refill from us.
    • Net traps can last 2-3 years with careful handling.
    • Bucket and jar-type traps can be used for many more years.
  • The FLIES INN Fly Attractant Bait provided with your trap is specially formulated based on years of testing.
    • The ideal ratio is 25g of bait mixed with 1 liter of water.
    • Once mixed, the attractant bait needs time to ferment before effectively attracting flies. This fermentation period depends on temperature and water conditions.
    • Use warm, clean water for better results—cold water slows fermentation.
    • You can prepare the mixture in advance using a loosely sealed plastic bottle (never glass) to speed up fly-catching in cooler weather.
    • Position your trap at least 10-15 meters away from the problematic area.
    • The trap attracts flies from the surroundings, temporarily increasing fly density near its location.
    • Over time, flies will enter the trap, reducing their population in the problem area.
    • If you notice a strong odor, it means the trap is too close to living spaces—reposition it farther away.
  • Please be patient! The attractant bait needs time to ferment before drawing flies.
    • In cooler weather, this process can take longer.
    • Make sure to use warm water as cold water slows fermentation.
    • Under ideal conditions, the trap can start working within a few hours.
    • In challenging conditions, it may take 1-2 days to begin attracting flies.
    • In cool weather, preparing the bait a few days in advance in a loosely sealed plastic bottle will help speed up fly capture.
    • Feel free to try different locations until you find the perfect spot that your trap works.
  • FLIES INN Fly Attractant Bait is 100% natural and contains no poison or chemicals. The trapped flies are not contaminated with toxins from the bait.
  • Our traps use a species-specific attractant bait for flies, making them harmless to bumblebees and honeybees.
  • Our traps are designed for outdoor use and should not be used in enclosed spaces. For indoor use, consider electric sticky traps or other adhesive-based solutions. We also recommend installing window screens, air curtains, or similar preventive measures to keep flies out of buildings.
  • Our traps do not contain any toxic substances. Once flies enter the trap, they die naturally due to lack of water and food.
    • When emptying net traps, any surviving flies will remain inside, preventing escape.
    • Do not spray insecticides before emptying the trap.
    • Please read the usage guide carefully and watch video tutorials for further details.
  • Our traps do not have an expiration date, but production dates and batch numbers are printed on their packaging.
    • Attractant bait packages do have expiration dates—if your bait has expired, you can purchase a fresh batch from us.
  • We do not recommend using our traps in closed barns but they can be used outdoors if positioned correctly. To ensure effectiveness in barns:
    • Place traps near the ground, exposed to light and air circulation.
    • You can start the trap outdoors before moving it inside.
    • In barns with high organic activity (manure, feed, etc.), correctly positioning the trap is crucial. Experiment with placement to find the most effective spot.
  • Our traps are designed exclusively for flies using species-specific attractant bait. For stink bugs, you should use pheromone traps or specialized light traps.
  • The FLIES INN Fly Attractant Bait is 100% natural, free of poisons or chemicals. However, keep the dry bait away from children and pets—if inhaled or ingested, it could cause irritation.
    • Once dissolved in water, it poses no toxicity but may cause contamination if spilled.
    • Ensure traps are placed out of reach of children and pets.
  • Fly traps rely on fermented organic attractants, which can produce strong odors over time.
    • Place traps at least 10-15 meters away from problem areas to reduce unpleasant smells.
    • If odor becomes noticeable, reposition the trap farther away.
    • Disposable bag traps may develop stronger odors due to decomposing flies—use them in low-traffic areas.
    • Reusable traps should be rinsed with a hose after emptying to maintain cleanliness and minimize odor.
